<lj:music>The Sound of Silence...literally</lj:music>

I just happened to catch Eminem’s new anti-Bush video on “the MTV”. To be honest, at first, I didn’t know how to react to it. If you know me, you know that I’m not the biggest fan of hip-hop, rap, what have you, but I’m also anti-Bush. The video has flashy graphics, lyrics that make a valid point, and of course, Eminem and Company. After seeing it, I came to a judgement on this video. During the 1960s and 1970s, many artists wrote music, voicing their opinions and beliefs on certain issues. This was a time, in which, there were many challenges in society: civil rights, political corruption, the Vietnam War, women’s rights, and so on. Music was a powerful weapon people used in order to be heard. Instead of resorting to violence (as some did), music became a peaceful protest tool. The music, itself, was calm and non-confrontational, and usually promoted peace and the end to evil and violence. When I compare this music to today’s “protest” music such as the Eminem video, there is such a drastic change between them. I perceived the idea from the video that Eminem wants to overthrow President Bush by force, and if we all work together, we can do it. I don’t know about you, but I think 50 Cent is gonna have a hard time getting to Bush, while he’s being shot at, another 6-9 times, by the Secret Service. I think what Eminem is doing is not entirely bad, I mean, he can freely express his own opinion; it’s his right (and his job). But in a world where TV seems to control how we live our lives and says what’s right and wrong, I think this can be taken too serious. I’m not saying that teens are going to march to the White House and declare war against Bush (hmm…not too bad, though?). I do believe though that Eminem has a huge impact on some people lives, and some see him as an idol. No musician should influence their own views and opinions upon their fans. It’s not fair to the Republicans that Eminem, for example, is used a tool to gain non-Republican supporters. (This also applies to Country Western “Super-Star” Toby Keith for the opposite parties!) Music is a huge industry now. It’s all made up of huge megastars millionaires, who in my opinion, don’t really care about the world, except for their paychecks and belongings. I can barely watch TV these days because I’m always being shown that Britney Spears owns a $10 million house, one I can never get in my lifetime, but I have to like it because it’s Britney Spears! So what’s your fuckin point, Kris? Well, my point is, in today’s world sadly, there is no room for protest music. Do you think Pepsi would pay Simon and Garfunkel $5 million to do a “sexy, hip” commercial in today’s world? Do you think Coke would pay Joni Mitchell $10 million to do a “sexy, hip” commercial in today’s world? They would if she considers wearing a thong and getting a boob job. Go for it, Joni!

Sorry if this bothers anyone, but I’m bored. I may be over reacting. I’d like to hear some of your opinions, though. I don’t care what you say…I’m open to everything from anyone.

    <lj:music>Schoooool's Ooouttttt Fooor.....fall?</lj:music>

So it's September, and that means back to school. But in my case, there is no school. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I spent 4 years of high school awaiting the day I get my diploma. Yet now, all I want to do is start school. I guess it's different (high school vs. college). Not only is it higher education, it's a new experience. A time where you gain independence and you're your own boss. Personally, I can't wait till I start school. I have NO IDEA how school is going to be like, but I'm ready for it. My only concern is being too lazy. For those who know me, I tend to be lazy from time to time, hehe. I find myself waking up late every morning for work (luckily my job is fuckin awesome that I don't get fired), sleeping most of the day, and doing nothing. I waste so much time during the day, yet I can't seem to get the motivation to do anything. I tell myself, "Kris, you should be practicing music, or read a book, OR SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE", but then I turn on the TV, which is pretty hard to look away in my room, and watch 3 episodes of Seinfeld and then take a nap. Could it be Mary Jane that's slowing me down? Yes, possibly...but that doesn't take away the fact that I still have tons of time. (Hehe, maybe I'm taking the wrong drug. JKJKJK.) So as of next week, I plan on creating a BUSY schedule for myself. I want to read a book. I want to learn a new song. I want to write music. I want another job. I want more money. I want to go to NYC. I want to see a concert. I want to leave my fuckin house for a reason besides work. I want to DO WHATEVER, WHENEVER. My goal is by the time school starts, I can look back and say, damn, I did a lot during my break from school. Of course, I can't completely eliminate TV, poker, movies...I mean, they're basically my parents. I feel that I can change myself to become a better person. And I will do that. Gotta go...Seinfeld's on! Hehe, peace.

<lj:music>Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Demo)</lj:music>

I'd figure I'd update this thing today. Not much happening these days...I guess the days are counting down until I start school in January. I have a while to wait, so I'll just be working and saving up until then. Poker was cool yesterday...I almost won the first game. Good game, Vin. I like poker, because it's probably one of the few methods where I can make free money. I can really only play it for real money, though. Hehe, I hope people at Berklee play poker. Let's see what else I've been up to. I've acquired 2 new friends if you haven't already seen them. My new rabbits are quite the ish. The white one is the best. I'll take pictures whenever I get a camera around me. Today is August 1st. That means this is the last month before people move to college. I want to do something people everyone goes. This will be the last time we can hang out before the school year. We'll do something...

Money is a bitch. That's all I have to say.

ANYWAY...my final comments are:

PLEASE REGISTER TO VOTE FOR NOVEMBER! YOUR VOTE TRULY DOES COUNT! IF YOU'LL BE 18 BY NOVEMBER, REGISTER HERE: http://www.mtv.com/chooseorlose/ (Click on Register to Vote)

I am very proud to say that I have registered to vote. <lj:music>Beatles - In My Life</lj:music>

Technically this is Graduation Day. It's an end of an era. We're done. Hehe, they were right...it does go by pretty fast. Although I won't be graduating on stage with my fellow classmates, but I'll be there to see you guys. I'm gonna copy Jackie's LJ with this. Enjoy...

Pat, I've known you like forever. I've never gotten into a fight with you...we've always been cool. We've been through everything together...from throwing jelly beans at passing cars, to Secaucus (hehe, damn, we were nasty!). We made it through high school...I don't think I could've done it without you...hehe, thanks for everything Jeeves. I know you're gonna do good things in life. You have a real understanding of things. I respect that a lot about you...good luck in everything. Hehe, I end this with a quote:"Ah, my ribs!"

Ant, ah, the good times we've had. You introduced me to the world of Final Fantasy. You and Pat showed me the light that is Haledon Pizza. You were always the genius in the group. I've always seen good things in your future. You have a true passion and strong dedication to anything you apply it to. Thanks for being there...we all grew up together...we're all brothers, man. Quote...:Who dares, wins."

Hehe! JEEVIO! Damn, Guillaume...we're graduating. Yo, I want my French Felons T-Shirt! Hehe, PUS-SY! You've been an awesome friend...hehe, you know we all are just bustin' your chops...You better do something with your life. You have so much potential. I don't want to see you working at KBs and playing Initial D in 2 years. Good luck man...and my quote: "JoAnn has such a phat ass!"

Jackie...hehe, I've known you for a while actually. From Gerritsen's hell hole to Winter concerts. You've always been there to listen to me...we're very similar. You're able to understand my beliefs and ideas, and most of the time, you agree with me. You have one of the best personalities I know. Hehe, we'll be Boston buddies. Hehe, that shit is gonna be hilarious! Good luck in everything you pursue....you gots it girl! Quote: Gerritsen: "Uh...Vanessa...fuck you too..."

Stan, you're an awesome friend. Hehe, how can someone be so nice!?! You're one of the coolest guys I know. My only suggestion is, please, take some poker classes! Hehe, jkjkjk. Don't go TOO crazy at Bucknell, we still gotta hang out and play Towers some time! Take care Jeeves. And quote: Stan:*after Bill's racist comment in Oracle* "Bill, you are such a racist."

Hehe, the only person who has ever did a 7 YAHOO!
I figured I'd update this thing. What's up with me? Not much. I got a car. It's a 92 Honda Civic. It's a great car, I'm glad I got it. Spring concert's this week...my last one ever. I've always enjoyed the concerts. No matter what anyone says, MRHS band is really good. It's takes a lot to learn songs like YYZ. I'm proud of the band. This got me thinking about future concerts. I am going to force myself to attend every concert MRHS holds after I graduate. I have to support them in any way I can. The MRHS music program is so talented, yet overlooked sometimes. Anyway, hehe...been doing a little of every lately. Mostly composing and studying music. I honestly think one of the greatest inventions by man is the iPod. It comes in handy in EVERY possible situation. Thank you Apple. Without you, the human race would die out. (I love you too, Microsoft). Hehe, I'm such a computer nerd. Later Jeeves.

Well today I decided to check my RIT application status for shits and giggles, and I was amazed to see what I saw. It said my application was withdrawn, apparently. What a relief. So my definite choice is Berklee. I feel really confident about studying music. Anyway, enough about college...what's new with me? I'm doing pretty good...I'm not really minding school that much lately. We're almost done, and I realize I will miss some things. MRHS is a pretty good school. I had some good times... Weather's been pissing me off. I don't like this heat. Hehe, fuckin sticky hot rainy days. Anyway, if anyone's interested in going to a jazz club in the city next Monday (5/17/04), let me know. It's $10 a ticket. Talk to me for more info. Peace my jeevios.

I got home from Boston today around 4:30 PM. My 3 day, 2 night trip to Boston had concluded and now back to life (is that a good thing or bad thing?). This trip was probably one of the best trips ever in my life. There was non-stop fun and it felt so good. I went up with Gabe, my brother and Jason. We checked out the city, Berklee School of Music and just hung out. I fell in love with the city and I know that I definitely will be going to Berklee if I get accepted. I just hope the other guys can get accepted too. I'm hoping especially for my brother to get in. I think he really needs to go there for the next 4 years of his life. I'm not gonna explain details, but it was an amazing trip. As for my closing statement, Jazz is probably the best genre of music. It's so powerful...

I'll be going up with my brother, Gabe and Jason. We'll be visiting Berklee School of Music. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. We'll be there for 3 days. Who knows what wacky adventures will occur?! I hope I really enjoy the school. I already feel a personal connection to Berklee...hopefully this will make me feel fonder. I will be applying to William Paterson and Berklee School of Music. If I get accepted to either one, I will go on to study music. My life long dream was to study music in college, and I know computers will be SO BORING. I could become a music teacher, and even try to get a job in computers. Either way, I'll still be happy that I studied music. Well, I have my audition for Willy P soon, so hope that goes well. Damn, Berklee has a $100 application fee.
I read Stan's recent entry about school, so I decided to express myself. As some of you may already know, I've been accepted to RIT and I've applied to William Paterson. RIT has offered $28,000 financial aid for it's $30,000 cost. I have an audition next week at William Paterson for music. But there's a problem...I really don't give a fuck at all. I've come to a point in my life where nothing interests me that much. I literally can't wake up every morning for school. I hate being there. Yesterday, I had back to back study halls and then left for workstudy and I still couldn't stand being in that damn school. I lost credit for gym...I can get one day excused, but what's gonna stop me from being absent again? I might not graduate, I might not go to college...but I don't care. I've come to realize it's all bullshit. Manchester is such a horrible place. Don't get me wrong, there are some things in school that I would miss, but overall, I wanna get the fuck out. I'm very, very tired of all this shit...I just want to relax. I've never looked forward to spring break as much as I do now. And I have some classes like Oracle and MArketing that I have absolutely NO need for, but I'm sitting through them. It's all driving me crazy. I think I'm gonna burst soon...

Anyway, on a more pleasant note, anyone interested in that band let me know...

Later

I've been thinking a lot about bands recently. I really would like to get a band going. Hehe, here's the catch. By band, I don't mean your average punk/emo/rock band. I want a band that plays covers of different bands, theme songs and play different styles of music. Everyone can alternate their instruments and try out different sounds. We could play jazz, blues, folk, classical...anything. I think I could really teach some people some things about music and have a good time just playing. If anyone is interested, let me know. This won't be a serious thing...just for fun and the enjoyment of playing music.

I've been really busy lately getting the new Haledon municipal building wired up for their computers and all. So what's new with me...

They found evidence of water on Mars. That's cool...can't wait till we find signs of life.

I've acquired another computer to my collection. I bought it for $300. It's a Dell...flat screen monitor BABY!

I feel I've been ditching my instruments...I haven't picked up my violin or played my keyboard in a while or as much I would have liked to. Last night though, I was going crazy on the organ. I spent an hour playing organ riffs...I wish I recorded it.

Well, I'm gonna go...later Jeevios.

    <lj:music>Sparta - Collapse</lj:music>

So I open up my web browser today, and read the headlines as usual for the day's news. The first headline was Bush urges amendment banning gay marriage. Bush is urging a constitutional amendment banning gay marriages in this country. Ok...we really have to get rid of this guy from the White House. Jesse and I were talking about politics first period, as we always do since 5th grade. Bush has literally done nothing for this country. Everything he has done has turned out for the worse. We fought a war with no cause or reason. Innocent people died and ARE dying for something that was speculated. I'm so happy that I will be able to vote for this year's presidential election. It's time we get this guy out of office. Here's my perfect candidate:

Against the war in Iraq - it's useless, wasting people's money and people's lives
Legalizing Gay Marriages - everyone should have the right to marry the person they love...
Legalizing Marijuana - it's grass...come on...we spend millions housing prisoners who are in jail for possessing less than 1 gram of marijuana...it's bullshit...
Getting rid of the Electoral College - Gore won...in any election, the person with the most votes wins...
And other stuff I can't think of right now...

I don't care if we have a Republican, Democrat, Greenist, or whatever...as long as someone gets the job done RIGHT...

Today, while I was working, I decided to check my Rutgers application status for fun. Hehe, I saw the date was updated so I check my status. FALL - NOT ADMITTED. Damn, I didn't get in. I got bitched. That sucks because Rutgers was like my backup school. Oh well... I think my recent report card was to blame for this. I hope I don't get rejected by RIT for bad grades. I'd be really screwed. I should apply somewhere else just in case... Hmm... maybe I should pursue music... We'll see..
